Lev Slavin

Lev Slavin is head of Venturesome Consulting, a boutique firm that provides hands-on expertise to investors, board members, and senior managers at entrepreneurial companies. His mission is to enable impactful ventures that improve the world through innovation. Lev’s work builds on over 1½ decades of experience as a market research, data analytics, and corporate finance expert for startups, not-for-profits, and Fortune 100 companies in a dozen industries ranging from logistics to healthcare to education. He is known for his creative, rigorous, interdisciplinary approach, and for the ability to convert messy data into clear and actionable insights.

In his consulting work, Lev focuses on building tools and processes that facilitate the fact-based decision making, strategic planning, and financial management necessary to a company’s successful development. His financial models have helped several early-stage companies credibly convey the value of their business and raise millions of dollars from investors. He was instrumental in developing strategic plans and financial management tools for the turnaround and expansion of a Middle Eastern retailer, a multinational manufacturing firm, and a nationwide logistics company. He has designed, analyzed, and communicated the results of satisfaction surveys for a $1B healthcare organization. He has trained employees for several clients and provided individualized tutoring in finance and analytical topics to business professionals.

In his teaching roles, Lev has led workshops at incubators and coached teams in several entrepreneurial competitions. He has worked hands-on with students for several years as a teaching assistant in economics, finance, and entrepreneurship courses at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and he collaborated closely with faculty on the design and delivery of an innovative e-learning course that is a capstone in the Executive MBA program. He was recently an invited lecturer at the University of Chicago Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies.

Lev holds a BS in Finance with honors from the University of Florida and an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Lev, his wife and son, and their 2 cats live in the Chicago suburbs.
