CPS Algebra Initiative
The CPS Algebra Initiative Program is a series of two mathematics teaching courses that prepare teachers for the City of Chicago Algebra Exam. Successfully passing the exam allows teachers to teach algebra to select eighth grade students.
These courses are open to a select group of approved CPS teachers. To see if you qualify for enrollment, please contact the CPS Middle Grades Team at mgalgebra@cps.edu.
Please note, if you are admitted to a UIC degree program, you are not eligible for the UIC Extended Campus hourly extramural tuition rate; you will be assessed regular University range tuition and campus fees. If you receive a CPS tuition subsidy, the subsidy amount will be credited to your UIC student account for use towards tuition expenses only. You will be responsible for paying campus fees and the balance due.
