Description: The proposed special topics course, introduces educators to new methods, strategies, and techniques for developing the cultural and linguistic learning environments within early childhood education settings. Participants will engage in reflective discussions related to anti-bias and cross-cultural education foundations and curriculum. Through the use of collaborative inquiry groups, and reflective tools and techniques, participants will increase their capacity to culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate practices. Participants will observe models representative of high quality environments, engage in analysis and reflection of their own practice, and plan collectively on how they can transform their school environments as well as classroom and family engagement practices. This course will taught in partnership with Professional Development Providers at the YMCA.
