Description: Through this course students have opportunities to put theory into practice with the guidance of mentors, course and site-based instructors, and peers. This experience is designed to support students as they strengthen their understandings about children and how children learn, communicate with parents, collaborate with colleagues, consider curriculum content and teaching techniques, experiment with their own ideas about teaching and learning and, most importantly, reflect on those experiences. The Illinois Gateways ECE competencies and the Illinois Professional Teaching standards (IPTS) and the Illinois standards for all Early Childhood teachers guide the course and field experience.
